Pacific Star

The Pacific Star was awarded for service in the Pacific
theatre between 8 December 1941 and 2 September 1945.
For Army awards, personnel had to have served in territories subject to enemy or
Allied invasion. Burma was excluded as it had its own Star. Service in China and
Malaya between 8 December 1941 and 15 February 1942 was included. There was no
minimum service period required for Army awards.
By contrast, Royal and Merchant Navy personnel were only eligible if they had
already passed the six month qualifying period for award of the 1939-45 Star,
unless service in the theatre started after 2 March 1945. For Naval awards,
shore personnel were subject to the same criteria as for the Army. For shipboard
personnel, the theatre covered the Pacific Ocean, South China Sea and the Indian
Ocean east of a line running approximately south of Singapore.
RAF crews had to complete at least 1 operational sortie over the appropriate sea
or land area.
If the holder was also entitled to the Burma Star only the one earned first was
worn, and a clasp and rose could be worn as noted above.
The ribbon is red for the Army, dark blue for the Navy, dark green for the
jungle, yellow for the beaches, and light blue for the Royal Air Force.
