Campaign Medal

Although there are many date bars around, commemorating the different phases of the Vietnam War, the only authorised version for wear by US personnel is the 1960- type. This medal was instituted in 1966 and was awarded for six months' service in the Republic of Vietnam or if wounded, killed or captured in the conflict.
